Classroom Guidelines

1. Show Respect:
-Raise your hand before speaking.- do not raise your hand while someone else is talking, please wait until they are finished to raise your hand.
- Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
- Profanity and crude or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
- Work quietly during assignments, quizzes, and tests.
- Pay attention when instruction is given.
2. Be Prepared:
-Bring all necessary materials with you daily: writing utensil, textbook, and notebook.
- You will be issued a planner. Please be sure to bring it with you daily and keep your assignments written down in it.
3. Remain Seated:-Seating is at the teacher’s discretion and is subject to change at any time. You will remain in your chosen seat as long as you behave in an appropriate manner (follow all guidelines).
-Please ask before getting out of your seat. Make sure your pencils are sharpened before the tardy bell rings.

-The teacher, not the bell, dismisses students.
4. Entering the Classroom:- Students are expected to enter the classroom quietly.
-Sit in their assigned seats.
-Begin working on their bell ringer/objectives for the day, before the tardy bell rings.
5. Be Responsible:
-Getting and making up work when absent is the student’s responsibility.
-Students who are absent due to school activities are responsible for getting assignments in advance and being prepared upon returning to class.
6. No food, candy, or drinks in the classroom:
-Only water will be permitted.

7. No Cell Phones or Ipods:-Cell phones and Ipods (any music playing device) will be confiscated and turned over to Mr. Van Metre if they are out in class.
-No calls, texting, or picture taking will be tolerated!!!

8. Homework/ Assignments:-Homework will be assigned on a regular basis and will count as points into your final grade.
-All assignments are due at the beginning of class.
-If you are absent see me see me the day you return to school. I will notify you of any missed work, and it is your responsibility at this time to show me any work that was due the day you were absent.

9. Cheating:-Cheating will NOT be tolerated. Cheating is classified as copying someone’s work (homework, projects, tests, quizzes, etc) or lending your work to someone else to copy.
-Anyone caught cheating will receive a 0% for that particular grade.

10. Grading Scale:-I use the point system to grade. Homework assignments are given less points than quizzes, tests, papers and projects.
-The points will then be converted into a percentage.

11. Miscellaneous:- I will adhere to ALL policies stated in the Student Handbook located in your agenda.
-Grades (with the exception of papers) will be posted online within 5 school days of being turned in.
-I do NOT believe in extra credit to help your grade. You should always try your personal best on all assignments, tests, and quizzes. Your grade reflects your work. Always do YOUR personal BEST!
